SPRING ON THE WAY......................

It seems that warm weather is coming our way, that will be nice for the students but especially the teachers.  For the next week the 6th grade class will be practicing for the state assessments.  If you have not heard yet, the state assessments have change this year and will be administered to students at a later date.

Students are use to taking the test for 3 days, this year the test will only be 2 days.  Students will also not be familiar with the format that will be given this year.  Because of that the majority of our time in reading class will be designed to get accustomed to the new test format.

In social studies the class has been learning about Hebrews and the beginning of Jainism.  Recently we have been discussing the Greek World; especially talking about the Spartans.  The class has been very enthused about this and class discussions has been very beneficial.

Social Studies

Students having been learning about river valley people during the course of the semester.  This week we are focusing on the Qin Dynasty in China, and what specific beliefs they have.

We also have been using map skills to help us fill out the map of Asia.  Students are having to label countries, rivers, deserts, and mountains.  There will be a test over the map of Asia this Friday.
